Sampling of water
The following are some of the critical points to consider during water sampling:
- First, we prepare the necessary equipment for sampling. This equipment includes new, clean, and contamination-free bottles, gloves, and labeling for the samples.
- Rinse the container with distilled water to ensure it is clean, then take the sample.
- Before starting sampling, we wash our hands thoroughly or use gloves to prevent contamination of the samples.
- The tank valve should be clean to prevent contamination from entering the sample. Alcohol or a flame can be used to clean it.
- Let the tap run for at least 2 minutes to allow the water to flow properly. This will help remove any surface contamination from the tap.
- Open the sampling bottle and hold it under the tap. Collect the water slowly, without touching the tap, and then close the container immediately.
- We attach a label to the bottle that includes information such as the date and time of sampling and the name of the sampler to prevent any ambiguity or error.
- Store the sample at the appropriate temperature (usually in the refrigerator) and deliver it to the laboratory as soon as possible.
